It is once again that time of year that we need to commence preparations for the Employment Equity submission. Employment Equity submissions is an annual requirement for all designated employers as per the Employment Equity (EE) Act.
The planned new Employment Equity amendments have not yet been signed into law by the President. These amendments will have a major effect on future submissions once signed into law. In managing the process this year, it is advisable to consider the amendments when setting Plans but acknowledge that the amendments are not yet applicable.
Current legislation requires all company’s over 50 employees, or less than 50 employees but over the turnover threshold for small business, to submit annual reports. The new amendments change this requirement.
The window for submission of Employment Equity Reports commenced on 1 September 2022 and closes on 15 January 2023.
